Furniture Design - Leather furniture

overview

Due to the nature of leather hydes, one cannot simply CAD out on the computer nor cut them with a CNC machine. For leather-upholstered products, patterns are manually drawn and cut from hands. My duties at Kavuus include CADing out the overall pattern design of each product, providing detailed schematics to our sewing department, and supervising the sewers to ensure that the procedure is done in a proficient manner resulting in minimal wastes.

When working with leathers, I have to be mindful to have all seam-lines to align in the middle so the overall does not look off balance.
